private group
ad hoc group

group of experts either created informally by an individual user or more formally to support an organized project, such as a grant environment (e.g., the CLARIN Project) or in conjunction with the work of non-ISO standards bodies, such as LISA or OASIS

Creating a Private Group

Any registered expert can create a private group for the purpose of collaborative creation, editing, and maintenance of a DCS. To select individuals as members of the group, they must first have registered as ISOcat experts. If any potential collaborators have not yet registered, it is necessary that they do so in order to participate in the work.

Click on My Workspace in the left hand browser pane of the Web Interface. Click on the "Create a new group" icon in the command bar above the right-hand active DCS pane.

Create New Group

The group specification template for your new group will appear. Give your group a meaningful name and briefly describe the purpose of the group.

GroupName

In order to add members to your group, click on the blue plus sign at the right of the Members list. The User Selector menu will pop up. Click on names to select members of your list. Hold down the Ctrl key in order to select more than one name at a time. Click "Select" to activate your selection. The new names will now appear in the Members list. Click on the Group icon again to save your new group.

User Selector

Assign your group to a DCS in order to give them permission to edit the DCs in the DCS. You must yourself have rights to the DCs in the DCS in order to carry out this assignment. (See the Profiles page for tips on how to gain access to DCs you want to add to your profile or to add translations in the language sections.) Open your DCS in the active pane and select the "Scope" icon to change the scope of the DCS to -shared- status and to place the DCS into a shared workspace. In the "Change the scope of this Data Category Selection" menu, select the group or groups to which you want to assign your DCS. Click the "Change" option to save your change. The members of your group should now see the option to work in this DCS in the "Shared" section of their personal browser pane. The following screenshot shows that the "make public" option has been selected. You may choose to make your DCS public or you can keep it private, in which case only your group can see the DCs and download them.
