Responsibilities of a TDG Chair
If you have been appointed to serve as a TDG chair for a given thematic domain and you have never registered as a DCR expert, your first step will be to complete your registration.
TDG members are individual experts. They can be chosen in two different ways:
- According to the specifications of ISO 12620:2009, they may be nominated by P members of TC 37 to serve for one or more specific TDGs. Again it is important to note that these are actual experts identified for their expertise. They do not have to have any other affiiliation with their national body. A P member can appoint as many experts as desired, and any given expert may serve in more than one TDG. For instance, if France or the United States has several people who are active in a given Thematic Domain, these countries may nominate multiple members for that TDG.
- Up to 50% of the members may be appointed by the TDG chair.
- In order to actually participate, members must register as DCR experts. The chair should invite or remind all members (both P-member appointed and those s/he has assigned) to register as experts.
Your TDG should appear in the list of Public groups in the DCR.
If you are properly registered as the TDG Chair, a special TDG group icon should appear in your private browser pane. If you do not see this icon, contact the ISOcat system administrator to record you as the TDG chair and create this icon link for you. At the same time, you can request that a public forum and or a private forum be created for your TDG. To assign members to your group and to provide a group description, follow the same instructions for creating a private group. If you create a forum or fora, be sure to check it periodically to ensure that you respond to any messages that are posted to a forum.
The chair is responsible for coordinating the activities of the TDG.
